About

Boost your students’ knowledge of and connection to Australia’s environment and animals in this collaborative and fun hands-on geography experience. Your students will learn about the importance of protecting our environment, it’s animals and how we can care for our planet through recycling.

This experience begins with a fun-filled and educational presentation by one our experienced Rangers.

Through a variety of creative play-based learning activities, students will:

  • Dress up as Junior Rangers with our provided ‘Little Ranger uniforms’
  • Meet two of coolest cold-blooded reptile friends (Diamond Python snake and Bearded Dragon Lizard)- students can touch to feel their scales and features
  • Develop a curiosity and understanding of the natural environment through catching and identifying bug and insect species
  • Discover the diverse environments and animals that make Australia unique
    See, feel and touch our menagerie of taxidermy animals
  • Participate in a sustainable recycling activity

This engaging day will be sure to enhance students’ relationship with their world and foster a sense of belonging to their environment.

Day Outline

Rangers arrive at your centre approx. 30mins prior to the setup. Incursion duration (1 hour)
The incursion will start with an exciting introductory presentation led by our enthusiastic Rangers where students will learn about the Australian environment, native animals and the importance of humans protecting our planet (approx. 5 mins)
Students dress up in Little Ranger uniforms (approx. 10 mins) PERFECT PHOTO OPPORTUNITY!
Students will get to see, feel and touch our taxidermy animals ranging from Salt Water Crocs, Possums, Echidnas and variety of birds (approx. 10 mins)
Students get to meet and touch a real-life Diamond Python and Bearded Dragon lizard (approx. 10 mins)
Students will actively participate in our recycling challenge activity (approx. 10 mins)
Mini-Beast activity. Students will have faces camouflage in child friendly face paint. Students will be given small clear jars with lid to catch creepy-crawly bugs in their school yard (plastic bugs provided and brought by rangers) (approx. 10 mins)
Final summary/ conclusion (approx. 5 mins)
