Full Day Excursion (4 Hours) 10am – 2pm
Time allocation for excursions can be tailored and adjusted to suit your individual school timetable and scheduling.
Leave it all with us! Whilst you are welcome to organise your own transport to and from our adventures, alternatively you can book with our Ranger Jamie buses or coaches. Ask us for a transport quote and we can take care of everything!
Please note, all coaches include seatbelts for students however, buses do not.

NTRODUCTION:
The day kicks off with a meet and greet with our enthusiastic Rangers before enjoying an interactive and engaging science presentation. Students will be chosen from the audience to participate in fun experiments in front of their peers which will have your students engaged and laughing for hours. Students will identify and differentiate solids, liquids, gases and understand that you must ADD or REMOVE heat to change the state. Students also identify and observe what a hypothesis is, the different states in everyday life and how humans use this knowledge to their advantage when creating new and improved technology. Witnessing liquid nitrogen students will see how we can turn water into ice instantly, turn solids into liquids and liquids to gases with a fire ball rocket fuel explosion.
ACTIVITY 1: Lava Lamp and Exploding Bag Challenge
Students see first-hand the effects of mixing liquids and solids together to create heat which then turns to gas. Students then apply heat to a liquid to create a gas which will explode soda water EVERYWHERE! Finally, this activity challenges the students to complete the ice challenge. Working together students strategise how to covert solids to liquids in under 60 seconds! Are your students up for the challenge?
ACTIVITY 2: Chemical Rockets
This is the perfect STEM experiment. Here students are given an array of materials to launch a rocket using vinegar and bi-carb soda. Using their knowledge of solids, liquids and gases from the morning presentation, students race against the clock to be the first team to successfully launch their rocket 10m into the air. This task is challenging and extremely stimulation. The best way to explore HEAT and its effects on our states of matter.
ACTIVITY 3: Launching Gas Rockets
Ever dreamed of launching a rocket so far up into the atmosphere you couldn’t see it? Focusing on the force of ‘air pressure gases’ we bring the fun to you! Students design and build their very own rocket before launching their spacecraft into the sky above the rooftops using a specially designed high pressure industrial rocket launcher. Guaranteed to get the adrenaline pumping, students will watch in awe as they witness their rockets roar into the sky. Through championship competitions with their friends, students will monitor the highest rockets, learning how each shape and design affects performance. A unique, engaging and action packed activity focusing on pressurised gas and how humans use this in their every day life.
ACTIVITY 4: Mystery Matter Slime
Students will LOVE getting their hands all dirty and slimy with this activity. Students identify if the slime is a SOLID or a LIQUID as it shares properties of both states of matter. Here students will be changing the shape of an object by applying a force to it to change its particles. Students will be stretching the slime, and punching it to compact the slime. The best part= students get to take the slime home with them.
