About

On this action-packed day, students will pick and taste REAL bush tucker, discover bush medicine, throw a boomerang, make their very own spears, have their face painted with traditional ochre clay and play some ‘deadly’ fun games – all the while gaining a wealth of knowledge through an immersive and authentic experience of rich Aboriginal culture.

The Gumaraa Rangers will immerse your students in the Aboriginal customs and traditions whilst providing an overview of Aboriginal history. Dreamtime stories and traditional practices will be shared, including the ways various tools and traditional shelters are made. Students will discover the Aboriginal kinship structures both past and present and observe traditional Aboriginal language greetings from local lands. They will learn about the Aboriginal peoples’ connection to their land and discover just how significant Aboriginal culture and heritage is within Australia’s history.

This cultural experience focuses on creating links from the past to our present – an immersive and culturally rich experience that your students will certainly never forget!
