We Offer ENRICHMENT, STEM & Enquiry-BASED LEARNING PROGRAMS

Electrical Energy Can Be Transferred and Transformed (2hr)

Stage 3
Science Incursion

This electrifying 2-hour school incursion turns your playground into a buzzing science lab!

Students kick off with a high-energy science show packed with exciting experiments that reveal how electrical energy is transferred and transformed, ending with a spectacular burst of 1,000 flying ping-pong balls.

Then students become engineers as they build simple circuits, test conductors and insulators, and explore renewable energy by creating solar ovens and electric windmills. They investigate how electricity moves from a source through a pathway to a device, and compare renewable and non-renewable energy and their environmental impacts.

A powerful, hands-on dive into electrical energy!

2 hour

Our Rangers will happily work around your bell times and scheduled breaks to create a schedule that suits your school day.

Introduction (Approx. 45 mins)

Our Electricity Show is a Ranger Jamie favourite, packed with exciting demonstrations including UV light investigations, a human circuit activity, and a spectacular finale where 1,000 ping-pong balls launch into the air!

Activity 1: Electrical Windmills

Students race against the clock in this thrilling STEM challenge to build working electrical windmills. Using batteries and specialised equipment, they generate wind energy and test who can power theirs first.

Activity 2: Solar Ovens

Students explore thermal energy as they design and test their own solar ovens. They compare materials and investigate heat conduction! Whose solar oven will reach the highest temperature?

ST3-SCI-01 uses evidence to explain how scientific knowledge can be used to develop sustainable practices;
ST3-PQU-01 poses questions to identify variables and conducts fair tests to gather data;
ST3-DAT-01 interprets data to support explanations and arguments;
ST3-DDT-01 uses design processes to create, evaluate and modify designed solutions ST3-DDT-02 creates, evaluates and modifies algorithms to code or control digital devices and systems;
ST3-CWT-01 creates written texts to communicate understanding of scientific and technological concepts and processes.

Electrical energy can be transferred and transformed

  • Recognise that an electrical circuit transfers electrical energy from a source, through a pathway, to a device that transforms electrical energy into other forms of energy;
  • Plan and construct simple electrical circuits to model the transfer and transformation of energy;
  • Pose questions, identify variables and safely conduct fair tests to identify materials that act as electrical conductors or insulators;
  • Explain how electrical insulators can ensure electrical safety in everyday life;
  • Identify renewable and non-renewable energy sources;
  • Research and present information describing the impact on resources and the environment of using a renewable or a non-renewable resource to generate electricity.

The cost of this science-fuelled adventure is $990.00 + GST Flat Rate per 2hr Session.

We recommend one session for up to 60 students. If you have more students, we suggest booking an additional session so everyone gets the best experience.

FAQS

What space/ equipment do I need to prepare?
We provide all equipment and materials, so you just bring the students. To keep everything running smoothly, please check the day outline for the recommended spaces.
Do all of your Staff hold a WWCC?
Absolutely. Every Ranger has a valid Working With Children Check and all required training.
We can show ID and credentials upon signing in at your school.

If you’d like staff details in advance, just let us know. We finalise our rosters about a week ahead and can provide this information then.

What time will the Rangers arrive?
Our Rangers arrive approximately 45 minutes before your start time so they can sign in, set up, and get everything adventure-ready.
