ST3-8PW-ST explains how energy is transformed from one form to another
ST3-2DP-T plans and uses materials, tools and equipment to develop solutions for a need or opportunity
ST3-1WS-S plans and conducts scientific investigations to answer testable questions, and collects and summarises data to communicate conclusions

Rangers arrive at your school for approx. 1hr before your incursion is scheduled to start. |

Introductory Presentation | The day kicks off with a meet and greet with our enthusiastic Rangers before enjoying an interactive and engaging presentation. (approx. 30-40 minutes) |
Grouping: Students are divided into two groups. Students are allocated a Ranger guide for each activity. Each activity is on a rotational basis. | |

ACTIVITY 1: Making Solar Ovens (Focus on heat energy transfer)
Students in teams are given various pieces of equipment. They are told what the end result must be however, they are not told how to successfully complete the task. This STEM based learning activity will have your students working together in groups against the clock to construct the HOTTEST oven using only solar energy. This activity will explore your students’ creativity and problem-solving skills. A great deal of fun for everyone.
ACTIVITY 2: Making Electric Windmills (Focus on electrical energy transfer)
Students in pairs will convert natural wind energy to an identified human need= electricity. In this activity students will learn about complete circuits and the need for renewable energy. At the conclusion of this activity students will have a fully independent working electric circuit. Putting this circuit together themselves they will understand what is involved and the importance of electrical energy.
