Forces: Push and Pull
Stage 1
Science Incursion
9:30am - 2:30pm (5 hour)
This action-packed science adventure lets students feel how forces make things move! They ask questions, test ideas, and explore how pushes, pulls, speed, and direction change movement.
Students launch air rockets, pop exploding water bags, battle it out in tug-of-war, whip up slime and race our speedy billycarts to see how objects start, stop, zoom, and turn. They also test different surfaces and design simple creations to see which move best.
A fun, high-energy day where movement comes alive. Truly, it’s a push in the right direction!

9:30 am – 2:30 pm (5 hours).
Our Rangers will happily work around your bell times and scheduled breaks to create a schedule that suits your school day.
Introduction (Approx. 45 mins)
We kick off with our exciting Liquid Nitrogen Show! Selected students put on PPE and help test how pushes, pulls and pressure can change how materials freeze, crack and move. A hall or undercover COLA is ideal for this session.
Recess Break
Activity Rotation: Students are split into groups of approx. 35, each with their own Ranger. Groups rotate through the activities in different orders.
Activity 1: Slime Crafting
Students whip up gooey oobleck and discover how simple pushes and pulls can make it stretch, squish or flow in different ways. A grassy area or space with tap access is ideal.
Activity 2: Air Rocket Engineering
Students build their very own air-powered rockets before launching them high into the sky using our specialised launchers. Rockets can be built indoors, but we’ll need a large outdoor space for launching.
Lunch Break
Activity 3: Ezy Roller Championship
Students ride our ezy rollers and test how different pushes and pulls help them start, stop, speed up and change direction. This activity works best in a hall.
Activity 4: Exploding Water Bag + Tug O War
Students investigate pushes and pulls through Exploding Water Bags and Tug O’ War. Ideal for a big, splash-proof outdoor space.
Wrap-Up & Goodbye: A final farewell from our Rangers (who will miss you already!).
Please note this is a schedule guide, and may vary on the actual day.

ST1-PQU-01 poses questions based on observations and information to investigate cause and effect.
Forces can change the way objects move
- Recognise that a force is a push or a pull that can make things either start moving, stop moving, change speed, direction or shape;
- Pose questions and test the effects of forces on an object’s movement;
- Investigate how applied forces change the movement of traditional toys and tools used by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples;
- Test how frictional forces affect moving objects;
- Test how the force of magnetism affects objects.
The cost of this science-fuelled adventure is $24.00 + GST per student.

FAQS
What space/ equipment do I need to prepare?
We provide all equipment and materials, so you just bring the students. To keep everything running smoothly, please check the day outline for the recommended spaces.
Do all of your staff hold a WWCC?
Absolutely. Every Ranger has a valid Working With Children Check and all required training.
We can show ID and credentials upon signing in at your school.
If you’d like staff details in advance, just let us know. We finalise our rosters about a week ahead and can provide this information then.
What time will the Rangers arrive?
Our Rangers arrive approximately 45 minutes before your start time so they can sign in, set up, and get everything adventure-ready.
Can the time of my incursion/ excursion be adjusted?
We usually run incursions 9:30am-2:30pm, a timeframe that suits most school schedules. If you’d like to shift things around, let us know before your booking and we’ll make it work. Your Rangers will also check bell times with you when they arrive.
How many Rangers will be on our program?
We usually plan for one Ranger per 35-40 students, so students rotate through activities in groups of roughly that size.
