About
On this awe-inspiring scenic, Harbour-side adventure, students walk from the ‘Gap Lookout’ to the ‘Federation Cliff Walk’, before embarking on a private Captain Cook Cruise charter across the iconic Sydney Harbour.
On this breath-taking charter, students will enjoy the sweeping views of the city surrounds, while discovering a range of natural environments as they observe the area from both land and sea.

Students will observe and assess the various features and characteristics of natural landscapes and examine a variety of landforms. They will discover the value of natural and built environments and investigate the perspectives of people and organisations on a range of geographical issues.
While discussing the management and protection of environments for their sustainability, students also examine various issues of land degradation and environmental hazards, exploring how these environments are sustainably managed and protected by local councils and National Parks.
On this engaging and hands-on excursion, students will not only investigate the diversity of landscapes and landforms on Earth but also participate in geographical fieldwork. Watch as your students actively interpret graphs, use maps, experiment with geographical tools and acquire geographical information whilst immersed in the richly diverse and beautiful natural coastal environments Australia has to offer.

Landscapes & landforms
Students:

- explanation of geomorphic processes that create landforms eg weathering, erosion, deposition, tectonic activity
Value of landscapes & landforms
Students:
- investigate the aesthetic, cultural, spiritual and economic value of landscapes and landforms for people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, for example: (ACHGK049)
- explanation of the aesthetic value of landscapes and landforms to culture and identity
- identification of how a landscape can have economic value for different people
Changing landscapes
Students:
- investigate the human causes and effects of land degradation, for example: (ACHGK051)
- identification of the ways people utilise and change landscapes
- description of the impact of a range of human activities on landscapes
Landscapes management & protection
Students:
- investigate how the protection of places is influenced by people’s perception of places, for example: (ACHGK052)
- description of the nature and extent of landscape protection across a range of scales eg locally protected places, national parks, world heritage listing
- examination of management and protection strategies for ONE landscape
- assessment of the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ knowledge to the use and management of an Australian landscape or landform
Geomorphic hazard
Students:
- investigate ONE contemporary geomorphic hazard including causes, impacts and responses, for example: (ACHGK053)
- description of the spatial distribution of the disaster
- explanation of geomorphic processes causing the disaster and its impacts
- examination of the responses of individuals, groups and government to the impact of the disaster
- discussion of management strategies to reduce the future impact of similar natural hazard events including the role of technology in monitoring and predicting geomorphic hazards
Day Outline

| 10:30am – 11:00am | Students will be split into groups and complete the first section of the booklets with a Ranger Jamie Tour Guide |
| 11:00am – 11:40am | Group 1 to tour out to Manly Quarantine Head cliffs from the boat (looking at headlands, erosion and weathering) then back to Watsons bay to swap groups. |
| 11:45am – 12:25pm | Group 2 to tour out to Manly Quarantine Head cliffs from the boat (looking at headlands, erosion and weathering) then back to Watsons bay |
| 12:25 – 12:50pm | Students to have lunch at Watsons Bay Robertson Park on grass |
| 12:55 – 1:30pm | All students on boat to tour Sydney Harbour landscapes and landforms (tba locations) |
| 1:30pm | Drop everyone back off at Watsons Bay Wharf. |
| Wrap Up / Conclusion / Toilet Break (approx. 30 minutes) |

Booklet Activities include: A student activity booklet is written and provided by Ranger Jamie Tours. A PDF version of this booklet will be made available to you upon your booking confirmation, for you to distribute in soft and/or hard copy to your students depending on your preference.
