Living Things Have Characteristics That Help Them Survive
Early Stage 1
Science Excursion
Get ready for an exciting outdoor adventure where your students become real-life nature detectives!
Throughout the day, they’ll explore the amazing world of living things and discover the special features that help plants and animals survive in their environment. Using their senses, and simple tools to boost what they can observe, students investigate textures, movements, body coverings, and plant parts up close.
Depending on the location, students might be catching bugs, reeling in some fish, building penguin habitats in the sand, or investigating plant parts to see how they stay alive. They’ll also compare living and non-living things and explore how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples use deep knowledge of plants and animals to live sustainably with Country.
It’s hands-on, adventure-filled, and full of “wow!” moments!
