Object Materials and How They Move (2hr)!
Early Stage 1
Science Incursion
On this 2-hour adventure, students dive into an action-packed science experience where materials and movement come to life through explosive, hands-on fun. The session begins with our captivating Liquid Nitrogen Show, where students watch materials freeze, crack, and react, all building up to a massive eruption of 1,000 ping-pong balls launching into the air!
Students then explore how materials bend, stretch, and twist as they craft oozy slime and engineer air rockets that blast sky-high. Along the way, they discover how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples choose natural materials for specific purposes based on their properties.
It’s a supercharged science session filled with big reactions, bright ideas, and even bigger smiles!

2-Hour Program
Let us know what works best for you! Our Rangers will work around your bell times to create a schedule that fits your school day perfectly.
Introduction (Approx. 40 mins)
We kick things off with our exciting Liquid Nitrogen Show! A few lucky students will gear up in PPE and help us demonstrate how materials freeze, crack, and move in surprising ways. A hall or large undercover COLA is ideal for this part of the session.
Students are then divided into groups of approximately 35, each with their own Ranger. Groups rotate through the activities in different orders.
Activity 1: Slime Crafting (Approx. 40 mins)
Students create oozy, stretchy oobleck while exploring how materials bend, squish, and flow. A space with tap access or a grassy area works best.
Activity 2: Air Rocket Engineering (Approx. 40 mins)
Students build their very own air-powered rockets, then launch them high into the sky using our specialised launchers. Rockets can be built indoors, but we’ll need a large outdoor space for launching.
Wrap-Up & Goodbye
A warm farewell from our Rangers, who will miss you already!
Our Rangers will arrive at your centre approximately 45 minutes beforehand to set up and ensure the day runs smoothly. Please note this schedule is a guide and may vary slightly on the day.

Objects are made of materials that have observable properties
- Recognise that properties of materials can be observed using the senses;
- Observe and manipulate materials to describe their properties using Tier 2 vocabulary;
- Pose questions about materials and describe how they are used in everyday objects;
- Bend, twist, crush and stretch objects to show that the properties of materials remain the same;
- Explore how Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples use natural materials for specific purposes based on their properties.
Objects move in different ways
- Observe, describe and categorise the ways in which objects move;
- Identify and label the parts of the human body that are used for movement;
- Test how the movement of an object is affected by its shape;
- Experiment to observe how an object’s movement is affected by its material;
- Identify objects made by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples and describe their movements.
The cost of this science-fuelled adventure is $990 + GST flat rate.

- Science Introduction: A large hall space
- Slime: Grassy area with a tap/hose nearby. Backup: undercover space with tap access
- Air Rockets: Build indoors or outdoors; launch ideally outdoors
Do all of your Staff hold a WWCC?
Absolutely. Every Ranger has a valid Working With Children Check and all required training.
We can show ID and credentials upon signing in at your school.
If you’d like staff details in advance, just let us know. We finalise our rosters about a week ahead and can provide this information then.
