In an action-packed day full of engaging activities such as spear making, bush tucker walks and face painting with traditional ocre clay, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich Aboriginal culture, learning about the traditions and culture of the original custodians of this land. The Gumaraa Rangers will introduce your students to the history of the Aboriginal culture, sharing Dreamtime stories, how they used tools and made shelters, and help them understand the Aboriginal kinship structures, both past and present. Students can observe traditional Aboriginal language greetings from local lands and learn about the Aboriginal peoples’ connection to their land, and what has changed over time. It’s a day about creating links from the past to our present - a day they will surely never forget!
