Hovercraft Summit (Managing Respectful Relationships, Managing Growth and Change)
Stage 5
PDHPE 2-Hour Incursion
Managing Growth & Relationships | NSW Stage 5 PDHPE
Ignite a spark in your students as they dive into a high-stakes innovation zone, collaborating to bring a giant, fully functioning hovercraft to life. This high-energy experience is a sophisticated exploration of Managing Growth and Change, specifically designed to hit the NSW Stage 5 PDHPE syllabus with impact.
Guided by our expert Rangers, your students tackle advanced leadership rotations that mirror the real world. Within the Health, Wellbeing and Relationships strand, they must navigate Managing Respectful Relationships in real-time, using empathy and sharp conflict-resolution to keep the team on track.
Using a structured Empowerment journal, your students audit their own independence and decision-making. They’ll discover the grit needed to lead through transition and the "bounce-back" resilience to turn setbacks into success. They leave with a refined professional mindset, soaring self-belief, and the collaborative courage to rise together.
Please find the structure for the 2hr workshop as listed below:
Part 1: HEALTH & WELLBEING
Your students receive their Empowerment Journal and analyse how health and wellbeing are shaped by choices made throughout the hovercraft challenge.
Part 2: ENHANCING HEALTH
Your students apply strategies that enhance physical, mental and social health while planning and building their hovercraft.
Part 3: EVALUATING SELF-MANAGEMENT
Students critically evaluate their self-management during the planning, construction and testing of the hovercraft.
Part 4: INTERRELATIONSHIP OF ATTITUDES
Students analyse how attitudes and values influence behaviour, teamwork and performance during the challenge, and everyday life.
Part 5: IDENTITY LIFT-OFF
It’s time to ride! Students lift off and glide, celebrating the shared success of the hovercraft challenge. This high-energy finish strengthens identity and belonging, with students taking home their Empowerment Journal to cement their growth.

FAQS
What is a hovercraft?
A hovercraft is a vehicle that operates by forcing air beneath the craft to create lift, allowing it to glide on a cushion of air. In our program, it only works when students collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve together, engineering both the hovercraft and a strong sense of wellbeing and teamwork.
What space/ equipment do I need to prepare?
One thing only: a large hall space with a polished timber floor or smooth polished concrete. If you are unsure about your floor, you can send us a picture or give us a call to discuss.
We handle the rest, bringing all hovercraft equipment and materials, plus a get-to-keep Empowerment Journal for every student.
Do all of your staff hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)?
Yes, of course. All Ranger Jamie staff hold current, valid Working With Children Checks and complete all required child safety training. We’re happy to provide documentation in advance upon request for your peace of mind and compliance.
What time will the Rangers arrive?
Our Rangers arrive approximately 45 minutes before the session to get everything adventure-ready. If parking is available close to the school hall, it certainly helps with a smooth and efficient setup.
I need a Risk Assessment. Where can I find this?
A comprehensive, fully compliant Risk Assessment is provided upon booking. It’s designed to meet school requirements and support planning and approval processes, and yes, it’s principal-approved.
Will my students have fun?
1,000 YES. And we guarantee you will too.
